Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, by Jeff Kinney
Reviewed by Derek Cheng
The extremely popular New York Times Bestseller is back, and it's better than ever! Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is the long awaited sequel to the awesome Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and it looks like Jeff Kinney got his mind going this time in making jokes!
The sequel, again, is Greg Heffley's diary (or journal, as Greg says himself). In this book, Greg tells of all the hardships and bad things that he had gone through during his summer vacation. And one particular secret, which Greg wants to keep to himself, was found out by Rodrick, Greg's older brother, and Greg is trying all he can to stop Rodrick from announcing it to the world. But when Rodrick grabs hold of Greg's old journal, things start to happen - and secrets like to escape when they are found out, especially when a diary is involved. What will Greg do? What will happen to him? Read the book to find out!
So why is this book so popular? Well, just like its predecessor, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it has the same kind of "funniness" that made it so popular. Also, since Diary of a Wimpy Kid was so popular, people were waiting a long time for a sequel. One important thing that made this book so nice to read was that just like the original book, jokes were intertwined with the storyline really well, so all the funny stuff seemed to fit. That's why this book and the predecessor both were so popular - because they were so hilarious! Plus, the story was made to look like a real diary, and all the content looked realistic, which is another reason why I love this book so much.
Are you interested in reading this book? Do you own it? Have you read it? Tell me in the discussions! I own this book, so if you want to borrow it, then tell me. :-)
PS. Next up: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw! Be ready!
